It's about time for another post here, don't you think?
So you have tech lying around that you have already replaced or you want to replace and you want to get some cash for it. I don't blame you! You can sell it to someone you know who is in the market, or maybe you list it on ebay. Then you have to deal with packaging and shipping. Not a huge issue for an iPad, but safety shipping a 27" Mac is another story. Have you heard of Apple's Trade Up program?
My experience with Apple's Trade Up Program
Checking your bank and credit card statements carefully can help you to save money by catching erroneous charges or subscription membership dues you may be overlooking. Sometimes, unfortunately, you may need to file a dispute with a company. The good news is that it does not have to be painful. In fact, many companies make it simple to do online without ever having to pick up a phone and wait on hold. Here's how to file a dispute online if you have a Discover Card.
How crazy does this photo look? Crazy right...
But seriously, a quick tip to get the last bits of product out of the tube is to just get out the old scissors. The size of the tube and product type determine the way you may cut it. You would be surprised how much extra product is inside these when you can’t really squeeze any out anymore!
Would you do this or do you think this is taking things to far?

Recently I noticed that Tom’s has made some adjustments to their Passport Rewards Program and I wanted to bring them to your attention.
If you're in the market for new glasses you have probably been rudely reminded how expensive glasses can be! If you're like me, you already used your insurance allowance on contact lenses, so you are replacing your glasses out of your own pocket or spending account.
This year I finally tried Zenni Optical. They advertise glasses as low as $6.95! You can really find decent frames for this price. Of course you can add on various lens qualities and other upgrades, but all in all this website is definitely a great way to get affordable prescription glasses and sunglasses. If you have an FSA or HSA account, you can use funds from those accounts at Zenni Optical with no problem. Just use your FSA debit card or HSA debit card during the check out process.
In case you are wondering, (I did) Glasses come in a blue plastic case with a cleaning cloth.
Top Cashback offers cash back on your Zenni Optical purchases, so click through to get extra savings!!
Let me know if you love Zenni Optical!
One way to save money is to be selective about brand loyalty. Marketing has reached a new level of captivation these days and it can be hard to cut through to why you actually keep buying a certain item. Some products really do exactly what you need them to, they are reliable, and they are worth the loyalty. Other times there may be good alternatives for a much better price or that have great sales/coupons/cashback offers that you could consider switching to or trying out. Simple, every day products like soaps and body washes, all purpose cleaners, etc regularly offer great sales so why stick with a $20 high end body wash when you can get a great one on sale for $2? If you love that body wash then stick with it, but being willing to try something new is a great way to save some cash for something else to splurge on.
To think about: What brands do you purchase over and over and which items are you willing to try various brands to save money? Feel free to share!
Did you know Top Cash Back offers up to 15% back on purchases at Dollar Shave Club? This includes razor subscriptions and other products offered on their website. If you're shopping for yourself or gifting, don't forget to click through Top Cash Back first so you get your cash back!
In addition to programming your thermostat to save on your heating and cooling, you. may also consider switching to energy efficient lightbulbs in your home to lower your electric costs and be environmentally friendly. Check with your local utility provider. In some areas they will offer you a free package of energy saving lightbulbs andpower strips to encourage your switching over!
If you're like me you have a drawer, cabinet, bin, bag, or SOMETHING that is filled with samples of various products you have accumulated over the last decade. Maybe it was handed to you, maybe it was attached to a product you purchased, maybe it came in the mail with coupons, maybe it was in your hotel room. Wherever you got it, it's taking up space and it could be saving you money.
It may seem obvious, but USE YOUR FREE SAMPLES! You may be surprised that one sample size of shampoo could last you a week of daily washing depending on your hair type/length. Yeah, a week! So look back at your pile of samples and tiny bottles. You may have a year of free shampoo without even realizing it.
These also are great for travel because they don't take up much room, they fit the TSA liquid size restrictions, and you can dispose of them leaving more room in your bags when you come home. You may have samples of shampoo, conditioner, body wash or tiny soap bars, makeup removing wipes, lotion, foundation. Use them up! You can even visit your favorite makeup counter in a department store and get a sample of your favorite foundation in a tiny container. This is also great for traveling!
Oh, PS. Samples can also be for food items. Sample smoothie packets, seasonings, snacks and cereals. Eat 'em up! :)
