Travel hacking is a fascinating art/science fusion whereby people are making the most of deals, promotions, loyalty programs, frequent flier miles, credit card miles and so on to travel to amazing destinations on the cheap! (and for the Supreme Ninjas- practically for free!!!)
I am not a Supreme Ninja.
I am a newborn Ninja-baby still being swaddled by the true travel hacking bloggers/youtubers of the world who are training me unknowingly to become a force to be reckoned with! :D
Credit card sign up bonuses are a great way to start into the game.
DISCLAIMER: Please don't go get a bunch of credit cards, spend way too much money, and get yourself up to you grandmas' eyeballs in debt just to get enough miles to fly you to florida. At least make it Europe or Asia! 😂 Just kidding. Please manage your finances and credit cards responsibly!!!
Anyhow, a great one that I have started with is Chase Freedom. Some great things about this card include that there is no annual fee! (yay! 🎉)
The card has a format of 5% cash back bonuses every quarter of the year. Notice the schedule and see if you shop in those categories. Grocery stores, Gas stations, amazon... COME ON PEOPLE! You could be getting 5% cash back on all of those purchases!
Now what's better than getting cash back? If you have a Chase Sapphire Card (more of that to come in the future) you can transfer your points to Chase Sapphire and use them as miles instead! This actually increases the value of those points depending on how you end up using them. So if you need cash now, go that route. If you're hoping for a dream trip to Europe, save them to use as miles. This $100 bonus is equivalent to 10,000 miles when you transfer to Chase Sapphire.
Oh wait.. What bonus? You may ask.
Well, if you apply before June 1, 2015 (Current deal at the end of 2017 is $150!!!) you will get a $100 bonus when you spend only $500 in the first 3 months. That's a really easy bonus to get. Easy cash or easy start to miles.
I have been enjoying this card for a few months now and when I had an issue with a merchant, I called the number on the back of the card, and I talked to a human being SO fast, I was shocked. I was off the phone in under 5 minutes with the issue resolved and a charge removed. Now THAT is customer service. I was euphoric when I got off the phone. In fact I giddily laughed to the lady, thanking her in disbelief that it was that simple to get the help i needed and my issue resolved.
Ah.. I'm loving it. (but not like Mcdonald's style. 🍔🍟)
If you decide to sign up, let me know if you have any questions . I am recommending this card because I read a lot about it from the true travel Ninjas before I signed up, and now that I have had it for several months I really love it, I have made great use of the 5% bonus categories each month and so far I think the customer service is incredible.
If you happen to sign up for it using my link, I will get a referral bonus from Chase. This is an easy way to help me post helpful things more often without any burden on you. So thanks in advance and enjoy your $100 or 10,000 mile bonus people! get planning! I wonder what your trip will bring? ✈️🌆🌇🏯🏰🗼🗿
