Of course you must visit JJ market while in BKK. Take BTS to Mo Chit and follow the crowds to the market on the weekends.
You will find every ware you could possibly imagine and sooo many people. Don’t lose your small children or child-like adults!! There’s a food section here and we did try the famous paella that we had read up numerous times. The paella was good, I think it was around $5usd, but the guy seemed overly friendly with the women and made a show of drinking while he was cooking and that's just not my style. But the paella was good.. I just felt like a tourist sucker as I sat there eating, watching, cringing, and eventually fleeing the scene LOL. *dramatic*
Anyway, this is a great place to buy souvenirs. You can get handmade items from the northern hill tribes, cool local clothing labels, home decor, spa items, carved bamboo items, just all sorts of things. But the place is huge and it can be hard to find thigns again once you walk away so try to get things when you first see them or write down the area number you are in to come back to later. There are actual maps of this place available.
Stay hydrated while you are here. You’re doing a ton of walking and sweating. Make sure you compensate for that! And look out for cars. There are some areas where cars are driving through the crowds. Don't make it harder on the drivers than it needs to be. And don't put yourself at risk for getting hit on your holiday. Just be smart and aware always. Feel free to haggle with the shops. Most shops can be bargained with. But ifyou’re content with the sticker price (if there is one) then save yourself the anxiety that sometimes comes with bargaining when you’re not used to it and pay the extra dollar. Have fun at JJ market aka chatuchak market aka the largest night market in Asia! People watch, shop, and eat all sorts of things!
