We only had about 4 days staying on Coconut Island during which I was battling some sort of bronchitis, possible pneumonia bad situation. Our time and strength was limited, but I wanted to get to mainland Phuket to check things out there for at least a day. So we took the boat from the island to Phuket mainland. The bad thing about this set up is that the taxis at the marina are quite pricey. They figure you can afford it.... And you don't have a choice because it's too far to really walk anywhere... So that had me sort of frustrated. Still, we decided on Old Phuket Town. We thought we would explore the town area and then walk to a beach from there. (ha!) Scenes in and around Phuket TownAs is common throughout Thailand, everywhere you will see motorbikes lined up. The town was full of little local shops. You'll also see packed songthaews heading down the road. One of the more disturbing sights, to me anyways, were these prepackaged hotdogs... complete with condiments. Why?!??? For whatever reason, I liked the look of this classic broom. I love finding beautiful, colorful elements wherever I go! And as much as I love color, black and white has a real elegance to it, don't you agree? Sometimes during travel we get caught up in sightseeing, attractions, shopping, food.. we forget to admire things along the way. Unique trees in the picture before this, or beautiful flowers that we are walking past. Yes, we will hike to a high point and look down over gorgeous turquoise waters with giant limestone cliffs, but it can be easy to pass up beautiful small things like these flowers. Or even this gem of a spider: But wait! There's more!Don't worry, there's more to this day than what you've seen so far. There was a journey to a beach that never was. Pop over next Monday for the rest! :o) You may also like:
