Welcome back to Fitness Friday! I hope this past week has gone well for you, I know they just fly by around here...
Last week I posted the Zumba 3 Day Shakedown review and today I am bringing to you theZumba Country Review!
Maybe you're thinking, "Zumba? Country music? Say whaaaa??" That's what I thought at first too. You typically think of Zumba having that spicy, latin vibe, amiright? So this was an intriguing concept to me. I'm neither a country music lover or hater. In fact, I came to realize that for most of my life I had country music all wrong. For a long time (okay, during my school years in the city) I refused to listen to any country music whatsoever. When I met my husband, who loved country music, he made me my first country music CD. Aww.. remember when people made each other CDs of their favorite songs? Or how about a literal mixtape??? Do kids today even know what cassettes are? Umm current babies- will they know what a CD is? Everything is so digital now. In fact, even these DVDs come with digital editions, so you can stream them from anywhere without a physical disc! Amazing
Ah, but I digress...
Back to the Zumba country DVD. Your trainer in this DVD is Cass, her sister, her cousin, and "two dudes". Throughout the workouts, Cass will reassure you that if you don't know what to do, just "Step, touch". That's a simple step that most people will easily master. The point being, just keep moving! The same as with the other DVDs. As with the last DVD set, I found a few moves I couldn't quite process. I mean, when I watched them do the moves, I understood. But somewhere between my brain and two left feet, the train veers off track. So in those cases, I just make up my own moves, enjoy the music, and keep my blood pumping until I can get back in sync with the "crew". With repeated watching, I bet I could get it! I should probably get abig belt buckle, cowboy boots and a cowboy (cowgirl?) hat too... Couldn't hurt, right?
The music in these workouts is not the newest of country music hits. But it does contain some classics a la "The Devil Went own To Georgia". Oh by the way there are 2 workouts onthis DVD, each 30 minutes long. Practical lengths are appreciated with my busy schedule and yours also, I'm sure. I drink a lot of water during these workouts and my heart rate definitely gets up. The more into it you get, the better workout you will end with. True of any workout really. Still, at the end there is always that nice cool down to lower your heart rate and give your muscles a good stretch. This is so important for your muscles and body and helps prevent super aches later.
I definitely enjoyed the Zumba Country DVD. It's a fun way to mix up your Zumba workouts and really explore a different culture.
I'll be sure to "heel, toe, do-si-do" to this dvd again soon.
And just between us, I may even throw in a "Yee-haw!" ;-)
