What did I think of this Active Whitening Charcoal Toothpaste?
I had an offer to try an Activated Charcoal Toothpaste by Dental Expert from Amazon and decided to give it a try. This toothpaste runs for $10 a tube which is steep in my book. It came with a little instruction pamphlet explaining not to be alarmed at the darkness of the charcoal against your teeth while you brush, and how to avoid staining your sink (rinse thoroughly) or toothbrush (have a designated charcoal paste toothbrush) with the charcoal. These are good tips because if you have ever brushed with charcoal before you know how real the effects can be on your toothbrush and on your sink if you don't rinse well. Yet somehow it does wonders for whitening your teeth. Go figure. The only weird thing was what happened when I actually used this toothpaste...
1. Even though it has a dark charcoal color coming out of the tube, it did not create the normal black smile brushing with charcoal usually does.
2. It foamed up like any traditional toothpaste.
3. It tasted sweet-minty like any traditional toothpaste.
There was no need for the disclaimers in my experience using this toothpaste.
This toothpaste left my teeth feeling clean and smooth and my breath classically sweet-minty as mosts pastes do. The listing conveniently does not picture the ingredients of this paste including Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) a common foaming ingredient that I have been trying to cut out of my personal care products. Oddly enough, the right side of the box says "No Sulfate" but then a sulfate is listed in the ingredients list on the left side. lol. okay...
Over all I think this is a fine toothpaste, but $10 is a high price to pay for it.I will continue to stick with my DIY natural toothpaste!
