Discover Credit Card Dispute Customer Service Review:
One thing I love about the digital age and online banking is that if you have an issue, a lot of times it can be resolved online without having to wait on hold on the phone for ages. I found this to be true with a recent issue I encountered regarding a charge on my Discover Card.
In the past when I had more time to do fun cooking, I had a membership to America's Test Kitchen. This gives you access to show episodes that are really interesting and education and access to their recipes which they test over and over again to perfect. While it is nice, all of these memberships can add up over time and if you don't have time to enjoy them currently, there's no benefit in keeping them. You can always sign up again later when your schedule changes. Anyhow. I searched online "how to cancel America's Test Kitchen membership" and found you can only do this by calling them. I hate that. Why can't I cancel on their website?! They always want to convince you to stay on and it can be a hassle canceling memberships by phone. But then I realized my discover card attached to that account was expired. I got an email that they could not auto renew as a result. YES! Problem solved!
Or so I thought.... When I got my Discover statement I saw that a membership charge from them still went through! Unbelievable!!! ATK (America's Test Kitchen) was the one who said the could not renew because of the card being expired, yet somehow they still did it!
I contacted Discover and filed a dispute. (Read this post to find out How to File a Dispute Online - Discover Card) The funds were returned to my account on a provisionary basis until Discover researched the issue. In the end, it came out in my favor and I have the ATK membership canceled and my money back with very little effort on my part thanks to Discover's online messaging system and efficient customer service.
Thanks, Discover, for great service on this issue!!!
