Snap Button Cardigans have become wildly popular recently and for good reason - they are a great basic staple for any wardrobe, they can be worn year round, snap buttons are better than regular buttons, they are flattering for most people and come in a zillion fun colors to suit your needs.
I’ve recently been streamlining my wardrobe to include fewer pieces over all. At this point, I am not trying to have a “minimalist wardrobe” or a certain number of clothing items, but I am trying to minimize my wardrobe, and really all of my physical possessions. I want all my clothes to be simple, versatile, easy to mix and match, and flattering. Layering pieces like racer back tanks, basic cotton tees, and cardigans are ideal for my lifestyle.
Which is why I was excited to find these snap button cardigans in colors that fit ME. I learned a valuable lesson, though. Always read the product details thoroughly and be aware of fabrics being used. You see, I initially ordered a couple of snap button cardigans from So Perla on Zulily and fell in love. Months later, I wanted to add a few colors of the “most wanted cardigans “ but when they arrived I was suprised to see that the product was not identical to the previous cardigans I ordered. The look is generally the same, but the original cardigans were produced by “The Color Story Clothing” brand whereas the new ones were produced by “Zenana Outfitters”. Here’s the difference...
The Color Story Clothing Snap Button Cardigan
The Color Story Snap Button Cardigan is a great, fairly breathable, lightweight cardigan that works great for casual outings or with dresses and skirts. The material is 51% Cotton and 49% Acrylic. It has a slight give in terms of stretch, but not much. This cardigan keeps it’s shape over many months and many washings. The color has stayed well with the exception of my light yellow one which looks a tad dingy, but honestly I am not a picky launderer, so I wash it with other colors instead of only lights. Thus I am probably responsible fo the dinge.
Zenana Outfitters Snap Button Cardigan
While these cardigans were advertised as though they were identical to the originals, unfortunately they are not. They do come in a wide variety of awesome colors and they have more stretch than The Color Story Clothing Snap Button Cardigans. This initially seems like a good thing, in a way, but what it really means is that they lose their shape fairly quickly. After just one or 2 washes the Zenana Outfitters Snap Button Cardigans pill very badly. On 2 of the Zenana Outfitters Cardigans one of the actual snaps pulled through one side of the material (in other words it broke). One time this happened I contacted Zulily right away and they sent me a new one which was great. However, the other color that this happened with was a color I don’t wear all the time, so when it happened (even though I had only worn it 2 or 3 times) it was too late to receive any refund, credit, or replacement from zulily. Which is understandable, but still annoying because it is clearly a defect in their cardigans. I have never had this happen with The Color Story Snap Button Cardigans I originally purchased. The material for these is actually 62% Polyester, 34% Rayon, 4% Spandex. Not a thread of cotton in here. :( This material makes you more sweaty as it does not breathe well. Who needs that?
Where to Buy
If you’re interested in trying these cardigans, I definitely recommend the Color Story Clothing Snap Button Cardigans over the Zennana ones. However, I still use my Zennana Cardigans all the time based on the colors I already have. It may not be clear which brand you are purchasing, in which case I recommend you check the material in the descriptions.
