The sleek, metallic design caught my eye enough times that I finally decided to go for it. Here's what I think 3 months later..
The founders of Quip felt that the toothbrushes on the market were often marketed with all of these features to make them seem more effective, but that were actually totally unnecessary. They felt that improving oral care required more of an improvement on technique than bells and whistles. So they set out to create a sleek, beautiful, simple, yet effective tooth brush. I think they succeeded.
They also make a toothpaste:
The Quip Routine:
Every 3 months you receive a refill of a new brush head and battery to keep your oral care game on point. (Because how many of us actually remember to replace our toothbrushes when we should?) The cheapest refill is just $5 every 3 months including shipping for a brush head and battery. You can also elect plans for family with multiple heads or plans that include toothpaste. The plastic handles start at $25, but the metallic ones are a bit more pricy at $40 initial investment. If you need multiple brushes, check the family starter sets for a better value and then change your replacement plan later. (stay tuned for a post on how to do that)
I am really happy that I got Quip. I went out on a bit of a whim. I had been using something like this Oral-B Rechargeable Electric toothbrush for a number of years. It worked fine and did a good job I thought. I hated having the charging stand on the counter all the time though. Then I switched back to a Philips Sonicare Rechargeable Electric toothbrush because I still had a replacement head left for it. I thought it also did an okay job, but it was even bulkier to hold and to charge than the Oral-B one. That leads me to the list of things I am loving so far about Quip:
I am really loving my Quip purchase so far. I bought a second handle to keep with my luggage so I always have a dedicated travel one and a dedicated home one.
This is in no way sponsored. I bought my Quip toothbrushes on my own. Just wanted to share my experience so far!
