Vine & Olive - Truly a DestinationIf you're looking for a great, but down-to-earth foodie experience and are intrigued by Mediterranean foods, you will *love* Vine & Olive! Walking through the door, I was so impressed at the wide open layout. Seating areas to the right, olive oil and vinegars to the left. Floor-to-ceiling wine on the back left wall while and all the delicious food smells drift from the very back wall. Coffee and desserts are front and center and incredible imported food products throughout! What Can You Do At Vine & Olive?
What I Couldn't Miss:Kula recommended that I try a gyro (that was a given!) with her mother's recipe for tzatziki sauce on the side. The homemade baklava is her yaya's recipe! Those two were absolute musts. I wish we could have eaten everything, but here's what we ended up chowing down on: Gyro (toppings on the side)I kid you not, the gyro was *incredible*. I would like to eat this... every day. Every. Single. Day. Oh my yum!! So flavorful, fresh, absolutely stunning. No under it is their most popular item. Kreatopita (meat pie) w/ saladI never had a Kreatopita before, but how could I pass it up? This was a satisfying blend of meat wrapped in a most delightful blanket. the salad was so fresh with a rainbow of fresh, crisp veggies, incredible fresh crumbled feta chunks, and a drizzle of balsamic. Mmmm Pizza Always :pIt's nearly impossible to pass up a slice of pizza and this is a big slice at that! You can buy pizza by the size or a whole 16" pie. I always recommend buying the whole pie because it invariably increases deliciousness proportionate to the number of extra slices you get. (8 cut instead of one means it will be 7 times more delicious if you buy the whole pie vs. one slice. tee tee) Have a stretch! After our eating extravaganza, we continued to hand out at Vine & Olive, checking out the market areas and I spent an incredible length of time tasting olive oils and balsamic vinegars in the most intriguing flavors. So intriguing that I went home with 3 bottles of balsamic. A peach white balsamic, a coconut white balsamic, and a cherry balsamic. What incredible flavor and health benefits these add to any dish! The peach can even be added to regular ice water for a refreshing and revitalizing summer hydrator. What a great idea! So now that our health benefits were in the bag, we decided to do this... So Many Desserts, So Little Time! The dessert area of this place is out of control. There was the homemade baklava, there were cookies, there were cakes and treats of all sorts and sizes. I had to lap the case at least 5 times before deciding. I kid you not. I love baklava so I had to have the Yaya's baklava and it did not disappoint. Also enjoyed a chocolate cherry black forest cake and a mocha as we sat on the outside patio to enjoy the pleasant weather, their lovely flowers, and our delightful treats. Someone even came out to open the umbrella for us. So thoughtful! It was a perfect end to a perfect #lakeerielove weekend getaway! Vine & Olive... I miss you!Looking at these photos and reminiscing on the several hours I spent hanging out at Vine & Olive (it was a chill day people), is making me long for more of this incredible food. What a cool place. I absolutely cannot wait to come back and visit Vine & Olive. It is such a cool establishment. You should visit it if you have any sense or have any opportunity to. ;p You'll love it too. Great. Now I'm hungry..... cereal it is. *eyeroll* Thanks, Kula & co for an authentic and delicious lunch & all the hard work that goes with it! <3
