Remember when I got a cheap convertible in San Francisco Airport for a fraction of the going rate!? Well.. I decided I wanted to do that again because what could be better than one convertible? ... TWO of course! When the Convertibles Run Out...Panic sweeps the airport when convertibles run out.... That's how I felt for a second. But let me go back.. In San Francisco our rental was through Budget (through Priceline). The convertible was to be a Mustang or similar and the guy gave us a Mustang. The guy wasn't super friendly and seemed agitated we didn't want to upgrade our car any more. Of course if we "really want to enjoy" our vacation, we would NEED to do that, he insisted. *eyeroll* But we never had a convertible before so this was already a thrill! Granted, I know that's part of his job. He was okay, in terms of customer service. But in terms of ease of getting the car, it was a breeze. Here at Fort Lauderdale Airport our rental was through Alamo (through Priceline). The convertible was also to be a Mustang or similar. The counter rep was super nice. His name was Thai (shout out!) asked him if he spoke Thai or was from Thailand. He didn't, just his name... Faux pas much? With me.. too often. Sorry, Thai! I was just eager to practice my handful of phrases haha!!! Anyway, he too suggested the upgrade, but was not giving a negative vibe to us when we declined. We then proceeded to the pick up area where a high-energy guy who told us he drinks a lot of coffee was there to help us. (I'm so sorry I forgot your name but if someone knows who I mean, please shout him out in the comments!) But there was a problem. There were no Mustangs or "similar" convertibles in the building. He walkie-talkied over to a coworker to find out if any had come in. They said no! None had come in nor were expected until the next day!!! I was a little bit confused as to how I had a car reserved, yet there was no car there for me...? But this guy was a star. He went above and beyond to try to accommodate us and gave us some options for a vehicle. In the end we went with a Miata Convertible. A totally different vibe than the Mustang. (Although both were a blast!) The only problem was...The Miata is significantly smaller than the Mustang which left me holding on to luggage on my lap on the way to Cape Coral. But, I like to go with the flow, so... I was cool with it! I just wanted to feel the wind in my hair as we rolled out of that airport! Driving through Florida (or California) you see some really cool and fun cars. More than in our neck of the woods. It makes the long, flat, straight drives more fun. Oh yeah, and so does the convertible. hehehe. I always thought my hair would blow too much and I wouldn't like having the top down. But really, I would just pull it in a sloppy bun or whatever and let the whispies whisp! I'm a convertible girl after all 8-) Do you recognize the car below?
