So you're in port on Barbados and wondering how you should spend you day. Here's how I spent one day in Barbados:

Paradise Scooter Rental
I had every intention of renting a scooter on Barbados. I contacted the company in advance to reserve a scooter for our day on the island and was surprised that the email I received mentioned needing a motorcycle license in order to rent the scooter. The website specifically said (see below) that a car drivers license was sufficient. Most placed we have been, if you rent a little low-powered scooter, a car license is fine, but if you want to rent a "real" motorcycle then you need the M license. I was really disappointed to not be able to get a scooter and it kind of interfered with my plans.
I just checked back and I am happy to at least note that Paradise Scooters has updated their website to indicate that it is a Motorcycle License that is needed to rent from them on Barbados. Hopefully this will avoid future disappointments for others! Sahara Arabic Grill and FalafelI had read about a restaurant at the far end of Brownes Beach(Sahara Arabic Grill and Falafel) that was supposed to have awesome middle eastern food. We took it upon ourselves to walk from the cruise port to this restaurant and enjoy some kebab wraps and fresh juice. It as delicious and totally worth it. I would love to be eating some of that right now! We were the only ones dining in at that hour but we saw a number of locals and seeming expats come in and out to pick up and it was clear that they were frequent visitors as everyone knew everyone -customer and owners of the establishment. That gives me a good feeling about the localness of the place. Don't be alarmed at the prices on the menu. They are in Barbadian dollars. At the time of writing the exchange rate is 1 USD = 2 Barbadian Dollars. Click here to find the current exchange rate between Barbadian dollars and yourpreferred currency. After that we walked back down the beach, found a spot to relax and swim for a while. Most of the chairs you have to pay for, or you can buy admission to one bar and then have access to the chairs and buying drinks, but we didn't have that much time so we just put down my sarong and kicked it on the sand. We started to recognize a lot of people around us... cruise ship workers! They know what's up!
On our way back to the port with a little time we passed a little beach bar and stopped to spend the couple Barbadian dollars we had left. It's right on the beach, and you can sit at chairs all around this bar. I have no idea what happened to the pictures :( (or did we somehow forget to take them?!) This bar has free wifi (ask for the password) and some great drinks. They have some overpriced mixed drinks and shooters, so I have to recommend the local rum punch. It's actually NOT on the menu, but you can order it by the glass. It's really good and it's just a couple bucks a glass (fraction of the price of the other drinks!) So that's my tip of the day! If I remember right, it's one of the first beach bars if not the very first one you will find on Brownes beach when walking from the cruise port. If I ever go back, I will try to update this with better details. sorry! But you can go on a little treasure hunt for this.
HELP! If anyone knows where this place is and what it's called can you please share!!! This Day Overall?
It was hot. We walked really, really far. (we had our roll-up travel water bottles with us to stay hydrated) I'll show you on a Google map below. But honestly, this was a great day! The food was awesome, the beach was beautiful even though busy. The water was tremendous - warm, clear, great for swimming! It is incredibly nice considering how convenient it is to the cruise terminal. The beach bar was a great last minute find.
I would love to come back to Barbados. If I had one day on a cruise ship I would go straight to Brownes beach, park myself there all day and rotate from sand to sea with a rum punch in between! I know there is so much more to this beautiful island, but for me, these spots were so perfect I would be completely content to return! :) Some Other Ideas:Curious About the Other Ports on This Cruise?

4 Things We Packed and Used on Barbados
About This Cruise:
I booked a veranda room on the Celebrity Eclipse Exotic Southern Caribbean cruise through Best Price Cruises. They had the best price/OBC at the time of booking and they were very responsive to any questions I had. I would book through them again!
