The Chase Freedom Unlimited Card is a great card for anyone just starting out with travel hacking as well as a seasoned traveler. This is a good card for everyday spend. Any purchase using the Chase Freedom Unlimited card earns 1.5% cash back and this is unlimited. Remember, this cash back can be redeemed as cash or transferred to a Premium Chase card to use as Ultimate Rewards points with a travel partner (ie free airfare, free hotels etc)
Chase Freedom Unlimited has purchase protection for new purchases that covers you for 120 days against damage or theft for up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account. They also offer extended warranty (an additional year), zero liability protection if there are unauthorized charges on your account, and access to your credit score which is very helpful when you are playing the credit card game!

The Chase Freedom Unlimited Card is perfect for every day spending that cannot earn a higher bonus elsewhere. For instance, I know I am going to get more points using a Sapphire card for travel or restaurants. My traditional Freedom card has those rotating 5% quarterly categories. Let's say the category is department stores, but I am going to the grocery store. I will use my Chase Freedom Unlimited Card at the grocery store because it will get me 1.5% back on my purchase whereas my other cards would all get me just 1%.
Also, do you have automatic subscriptions that renew? I am talking about Netflix, Quip, Ipsy, Apple iCloud Storage, Apple Music, HP Instant Ink (free month here). All of these I link up to my Chase Freedom Unlimited Card for 2 reasons:
