Boarding The Plane | A321 Air India Business Class Flight Review

Our flight started off with being a tad late to the gate thanks to that sweet, sweet free Priority Pass lounge access at Colombo Bandaranaike Airport (CMB) compliments of Chase Sapphire Reserve. (You can alsoget Priority Pass access without the card). 

Then, as we walked down the ramp, literally steps before the door of the plane they had set up an additional security check table and everyone had to open their bags to have them rechecked. Kind of annoying when you have your away carry-on luggage stuffed full so you can avoid checking a bag. *eyeroll* People in the line were kind of pushy and this could be due to the culture where, due to the fact that cities can be so densely populated, people get used to having to physically push to get through crowds, get on and off transportation etc. Not my style, but it's cool.

Here's a view of the seats on Air India A321 First Class / Business Class. Again, aged, but comfy and very spacious. Lots of leg room, especially in that very first row. I could fully extend my legs without even touching the wall in front of me. Okay, I'm not that tall. But still.

The crack between the seat and the window - not a great view. Actually pretty gross. I get that it is a difficult space to clean and there's no time for cleaning these aircrafts (ick) but still, not a super premium feeling imo.

I had an overall good experience on Air India A321. The plane was older and that does take away from the experience a little bit, I think. The food and service was decent. I will never forget the intense pee-curry smell in the bathroom when I got up, though. I think someone peed on the floor. :-(

Based on this experience alone, I think I would book economy award tickets with my United points (good for united flights and their booking partners) or Chase Ultimate Rewards Points if I flew on Air India again. I would rather splurge for Business or First Class when I am going to get a little more special of an experience.
