Let the battle begin..
Every year around spring time, candy companies in the US market their candies to appeal to local customs and traditions. In comes the Egg-shaped candy.
The great news is this candy is extra fresh and goes on sale right away because it has a limited window of relevance due to it’s theme. Hence I picked up the following candies listed below in order of my preference after trying them this year. The Cadbury Mini Egg
TheCadbury mini egg has been a lifelong favorite for me and clearly takes the win. Cadbury makes the most deliciously smooth and creamy milk chocolate and that’s coming from a person who likes dark chocolate better. The milk chocolate is covered by a thin, crisp sugar shell. You can either crunch right into it or let it dissolve in your mouth to savor it. This is a favorite candy of all time.
Reeses Pieces Eggs
Reeses Pieces on an average day are delicious and addictive. Similar to an m&m, only within the crunchy shell is peanut butter. Yum! I was surprised at how large the Egg version of this candy was. The eggs were, in fact, much larger than the Cadbury mini eggs. The shell also felt different to a normal Reeses Pieces - shinier and thicker or harder? But at the end of the day it was still a delightful marriage of crisp shell with smooth peanut butter within. These take second place.
Butterfinger Eggs
I fall sucker to the Butterfinger Egg every year. It's like I forget that it is just okay until I eat the first blasted one. At the end of the day I think a normal Butterfinger Candy Bar is the best way to go. It has the best proportion of chocolate to Butterfinger-goodness. The eggs have way more chocolate in the ratio and (for me) that takes away the whole draw of the Butterfinger.
What about you?
