Welcome to Cedar Point - The Roller Coaster Capital of the World! This review post is broken down into the following categories:
CoastersIf I counted right, Cedar Point has 18 roller coasters! (This doesn't include the "Thrill Rides") So there is a lot of excitement to be had if you are into coasters. I feel proud to say that I conquered all of the roller coasters! Well, almost all of them. I did not do a couple that seemed more geared toward children and one coaster was closed, I think it was the Iron Dragon. I was kind of bummed about that. See, they were doing some sort of special thing you could sign up for to test out something new at a certain time and the ride was supposed to open up again after that was done. Well once we came back through, the special testing was over, but a show was about to start near by. So we thought maybe that was why it was closed. Then we came back later after the show was over to see if it was opened yet, but it wasn't. So we just gave up. Otherwise, it was amazing. The longest waits were for the new ride Valrvn and also for the beloved Maverick. We saved them for the end of the day and only ended up waiting for about 30 minutes compared to 90 minutes earlier in the day. 2 coasters I did not care for at all:
Valravn was fun, but it is so hyped up. I like Maverick more and wish I would have rode it multiple times. Gatekeeper was another fun coaster and Top Thrill Dragster is pretty great also. Wicked Twister and Skyhawk also made my top rides list! The WindSeeker is a fun, non-roller coaster. It's a swing ride that takes you up so high and you get great views of the park and Lake Erie. Awesome! Great to do during the day and again at night to see everything lit up. But it can get chilly up there late at night depending what time of year you go. LockersSo i brought a backpack with me. A small backpack with thinks I *thought* I would want and need. Things like my wallet, phone, chapstick, sunscreen, gum, portable charger for phone hmm.. what else was in there?) Well first ride I get in line to ride, I find out I HAVE to put my bag in a locker. $2 for 2 hours, is the lowest amount. So now I come to find that a lot of rides require bags to be put in paid lockers. So I spent probably around $15 extra dollars just on storing my backpack throughout the day. I was so irritated about that. If I would have known I would NOT have brought a backpack. I would have slimmed things down and just stuffed my pockets. Or left it all behind. The amount I actually used that stuff was not worth the money we paid to keep it in a locker and the hassle of retracing our steps throughout the park to track down the bag and reposition it in another locker. Normally we are at a park with others, including non-riders who are designated to watch bags if needed. This time, it was just us and I hadn't even thought about it! So lesson learned: don't bring a backpack unless you really, really, really need it. Or, if you don't mind extra hassles and losing money at the rate of $2/hour. :o) FoodCedar Point has some dining plans these days and they run as follows:
We got the All Day Dining Plan. This plan allows you to eat certain items and designated locations (all around) every 90 minutes. We literally set a timer to keep track of when we were "eligible" for food. LOL Here's what we ate:
Those are just a few of the things you can get. We were at the park from 11 am to 12midnight when it closed. You can also get food at Subway, Johnny Rockets, Pizza, Pink's, Red Garter Saloon (bbq), so there are a lot of choices. This is a really good value. No, the food isn't the healthiest. But for one day, if you eat twice you have pretty much made up the cost of it and there is some comfort in knowing that when you are hungry you can eat, without working about spending a portion on okay food that is not great for you. We also got the Ride & Refresh ticket for an extra $10. This gave you unlimited Coca-Cola beverages all day. This is a great deal. You can refill at any food station, but they also have these hydration stations with a lot more choices. You don't have to drink pop all day either. You can get powerade, disani water, fizzy water, etc. I think this is a great deal and necessary. It was HOT when we went and being at a park, outside, in heat like that for 12 hours could actually be dangerous. It's not hard to get dehydrated. So this really was a good option that I would definitely purchase again in the future. AppDid you know Cedar Point has an app? If you are going, definitely get the app, it's free. Connect to the also free wifi there and you will be able to see wait times on the rides. This is a great help to planning your day so you can enjoy rides and not hangout in lines for longer than necessary. The app could definitely be improved and I hope they will continue to work with it including adding a "to do" list of rides you want to get to so you make sure you don't miss anything and regret it later. CostCedar Point offers a lot of different ticketing options. Gate Price is $65 Monday-Thursday you can buy adult tickets online for $48 Ride & Refresh is $59 online After 4pm Monday-Thursday is $40 Any day when purchased online is $53 Season Passes $140 Fast Lane- These passes can be $100-150 extra per person and while they will save you a ton of time... the price tag is hefty Parking -- I bought it ahead online for $15 which is apparently a $5 savings So definitely purchase tickets ahead online if at all possible to save yourself some money! SummaryCedar Point is a great, fun, amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. It is world renowned for it's coasters and you will definitely have a thrilling experience if you ride them all. I can't wait to go back! What rides do you love or hate at Cedar Point?! Up Next... A Visit To Put-In-BayNeed Help Planning Your Trip To Lake Erie Shores & Islands?
