If you always dreamed visiting the oldest family-owned and operated winery in Ohio, then you have come to the right place: Heineman's Winery! They, too, have a cave (different kind, though) that you can tour like Perry's Cave. Their Crystal Cave and Winery tour takes about 30 minutes and costs $8. The Cave is the word's largest Geode! COOL! If you don't want to do the tour, don't have time, or get there too late (tours end at 5pm), you can do tastings by the glass. The cost is $2.50 per glass for any wine with the exception of the Iced Wine which is $9 per glass. There are discounts if you purchase wine here and they are as follows: 4 bottles - 6% off 6 bottles - 12% off 12 bottles - 20% off So those are some nice offerings. The wines were all tasty and my preference leans toward the sweeter. We sat out back. They have a patio area with some wooden tables full of names inscribed from previous tasters, as well as an entire back grass area that was PACKED with people hanging out, drinking wine, eating cheese and meat. Apparently I neglected to take pictures of this part of the day. Must have been too into the wine and meat sticks. Wait. I didn't mention the meat sticks. I think they were around $1.50 and a great, hearty snack to enjoy with the wine. I had... more than one.. :o) yay! Good idea Heineman's! Pro Tip:Um... my pro tip for this is just.. visit Heineman's Winery! The wine is delicious, so are the meat sticks, and I'm sure the cheese platters are too. Don't be in a rush, just enjoy some good wine and hanging out time and you'll want to come back again and again! I know I would come back here!
