There's something irresistible about getting out on the water, feeling the wind in your hair, and seeing things from a whole new perspective... I love it! And you might realize that if you have followed this blog for some time. (Remember the Chao Phraya Express Boat in Bangkok, Thailand? or the Bridge2Bridge Cruise in San Francisco?) It's just a fun way to relax, get off your feet and enjoy where you are at. That being said, looking for a family-friendly activity in Fort Myers area (there are a lot of options!) we decided to embrace our love of that breeze and take a trip with Pure Fort Myers! The 7:15pm sunset cruise seemed like a great option so we could squeeze in some beach time at Sanibel earlier in the day. Hop on board and see some of the things that we saw! ;) What You'll See: At The MarinaWaiting outside by the docks is so pleasant. There were some places to sit and I loved the view of the boats docked, the water stretching until it hits the next landscape and the swirl of clouds reflecting on the water. *sigh* I was also intrigued by these bicycles on the front of this boat. Stationary for exercise or for biking in the water? What's your guess? :p hehe What You'll See On The Water: Manatees!?Yes, you can actually see manatees and dolphins, especially on the Caloosahatchee River Tour. How cool is that?! Keep your eyes peeled! What You'll See On The Water: Cool Buildings & ArchitectureI have actually no idea what buildings are in either of these two photos, but I found them delightful to the eye. What You'll see On The Water: Things You Maybe Shouldn't See?Umm... So apparently these guys (yes, two! at first I thought just one, then I zoomed in) were not expected to be on this boat. I was happy to know that the boats in Ft. Myers look out for one another and take appropriate actions when something is askew. Way to go, guys! Champs!! What You'll See On The Water: Other People.. Enjoying The Water! What You'll See On The Water: Mangrove Forests & Bird RookeriesWhat You'll See On The Water: Pure Fort Myers' Personal TouchThe Captain & co. on this boat were so great with the little ones. A 9 year old who started off disinterested, wanting to go home, and missing Mario ended up spotting birds through binoculars, wearing a captain's hat, and steering the boat!!!! How COOL! (Yes, slightly jealous......) The extra attention that was given is the kind of things that makes a memory last a lifetime. What You'll See On The Water: Incredible Sunset ViewsBuying TicketsYou can buy your tickets on the Pure Fort Myers website or if you are closer to Naples and want to cruise out of Naples, there is also a Pure Naples website you can reserve tickets on. I actually stumbled across this gem on Groupon! The sunset cruise is regularly around $32, I believe, and the Groupon was $18 per person. That was a great discount, I thought! It seems as though you can often find them on Groupon, so definitely check that out so you can bring the whole family! To find it: Type in "Pure Fort Myers" in the Groupon search bar at the top of the page While You're WaitingPure Fort Myers is docked at the Marina at Edison Ford (2360 W. 1st Street, Fort Myers, Florida USA 33901 Marker 54 if by Boat on the Caloosahatchee River). If you are there super early you can visit the Edison & Ford Winter Estates which has botanical gardens, historic buildings containing inventions and artifacts, a botanical research lab, and so on. There are a number of different packages and prices for admission. For an adult it ranges from $12-50 depending on which admission(s) you're interested in and if you want a special tour. Children under 5 are FREE and the price for a child 6-12 or 13-19 is less than an adult, so that is nice. Now we did not get there that early, but we did have a little bit of time to wait. We had gone to Sanibel earlier in the day and then went back to Cape Coral to shower and freshen up, and we were waiting at the Marina for the rest of our group. There is a restaurant at the Marina called Pinchers. I believe they have BOGO of certain cocktails all day every day, so we just shared a 2-for-1 margarita on the rocks and I think it was about $8. We finished in perfect time to meet the rest of our group and enjoy our sunset cruise. By the way, there is also awesome and fascinating photography beautifully displayed (on glass?) throughout the building, so you can enjoy a mini art gallery while you wait, too! I wish I knew where they ordered from, I would love to have some of my shots on glass like that! Plan Your Trip To Ft. Myers/Sanibel/Captiva/Cape Coral:
