Where I come from, it's hard to get a good taco. So when you travel somewhere and see taco trucks all around... you eat at them. As many times as you can. hehe. Tacos HidalgoFirst and the absolute hands down best of the three taco trucks would have to be Tacos Hidalgo in Merced, California. Stumbled across this beaut en route to Yosemite National Park from the lovely Mendocino Coast. It was so undeniably delicious, I had to come back here on our way through San Francisco after Yosemite. For just $1.50 you can get tacos like this: (seriously!!)
Sonora TacosOur taco adventures continued in Mariposa at the parking lot of the local grocery store called the Pioneer Market. We noticed there were 2 taco trucks here and decided we needed to try them both. Sonora Taco Truck was way better.... Sorry Sal. Tacos were $1.50 here also, unless you got certain types like lengua tacos (cow tongue) which I did, indeed, have to try. [If you wondered.. I kind of describe them as being similar to the very center of a good steak cooked medium rare, in little bite sized chunks. the texture was smooth, but not fatty or gristly. I liked it!] Sal's TacosSal's Tacos was the least impressive to me. At the same price as the other tacos, $1.50 a piece, Sal's tacos didn't come with any of the extra awesome sides and toppings. The meats tasted generally bland. I was pretty let down about it. Come on, Sal!!
Smart Locals...Smart locals know you can call these trucks in advance and place an order. Then you don't have to wait in line! So smart!!! They also know where all the best taco trucks in their area are... So.. share the knowledge for the love of tacos! Where do you eat delicious tacos from a truck?! I *need* to know!Mentioned In This Post:
