Has your Instagram feed been full of Bearaby weighted blankets lately? They are knitted with natural fabrics and look cozy-chic while promising to calm your racing mind and enable you to enjoy the perfect nap. Hence the name, the Napper.
But did you know that Bearaby also makes a weighted comforter? it’s called The Sleeper and it comes in a number of configurations. Twin, Queen, King. And various weights 15, 20, 25, or if you get a King you can get basically 2 different weights since the people using it are possibly two different sizes - 15-15, 15-20, and 20-20. The Sleeper is made of eucalyptus fabric and organic cotton. The weighted aspect consists of glass/sand.
It’s recommended that you order a King size if you are sharing the comforter whether your bed size is Queen or King. So I wanted to go with a King 15-20. That was going to set me back $399.
Then there’s the issue of the duvet cover aka the Sleeper Sheets. This set basically includes pillow covers and a duvet cover for The Sleeper Comforter. Note: despite including the word "sheets" in the name, there are no fitted sheets/ flat sheets in this set.
The duvet cover has the 4 corner ties that most duvet covers have, but the nice feature of it is a 360 degree zipper to make changing the cover when washing a breeze. I like this idea. The cover is made from Eucalyptus Lyocell and organic cotton. be sure to match the size of the Sleeper Comforter you order, not the bed size you have. A King cover runs $129. So the comforter and cover would be about $530. Eek.
Anyhow, by happenstance I stumbled across the company Somnos Sleep which looks much less trendy, but offers a therapeutic weighted comforter with nearly identical product information and design. The only difference I see is the label says Somnos instead of Bearaby. Identical white comforter with navy trim, navy zipper, and navy label. Identical price. I think it’s the same company. Actually I think it’s the same company because that’s the company name that showed up on my paypal account when I bought the Napper from Bearaby ?
I could be wrong. But isn’t marketing funny? Bearaby has great, trendy marketing and is popping up all over social media making you more likely to spend a chunk of savings on better sleep via weighted blankets, but Somnos sounds much more medical? Like something sold at a doctor’s office. Likely appeals to a different demographic. But still the same item. lol. Nothing wrong with that. If anything, it’s smart! And also, I could be wrong about this all. I’m just playing detective on my own.
But anyways, how to save $50 on your 'Bearaby' weighted comforter, or should I say Somnos Comforter...
Check Amazon before you buy your therapeutic weighted comforter!
I can't guarantee that the prices on Amazon won't change, but at the time I purchased my Somnos Therapeutic Weighted Comforter from Amazon, the price was $50 lower than the price on the Somnos webpage or the Bearaby webpage! It's worth a quick look and if you're in the market for one of these I hope it can save you a few bucks!
Also, if you order on Amazon you can get free 2 day shipping on it and free returns with Prime!
