During this pandemic many of us have turned to the internet to help us stay home more to keep ourselves and others safe. Ordering groceries through instacart was new to me, and I’ve learned a lot through the experience so far. (Review to come) The last time I ordered groceries, I noticed “The Wine Shop” as an option I never noticed before and decided to give it a try.

I went with the Quintessential California Selections which is a curated collection of 3 reds and 3 whites.

How much did it cost?
Quintessential California Selections - 6 Bottles $69.99
Sales Tax $4.20
Alcohol Service Fee $1.60
Alcohol Excise Fee $2.97

Shipping was free as I was on the Instacart Express Trial making the total $78.76 for 6 bottles of wine delivered safely to my door. Thats about $13 per bottle and if they are any good then this will have been quite an exciting find!

Shipping
I placed my order on a Saturday, it shipped the following Monday, and arrived at my doorstep on Wednesday afternoon! I was notified in advance by Instacart that someone 21+ would need to be there to accept the delivery by showing valid ID. The delivery driver did not ask for ID. :-/
Packaging
Packaging was great - a sturdy outer box with cutouts to make lifting easier. Durable cardboard crating that fit perfectly above and below the bottles. I think these would actually be great reused to start seeds if you’re into that sort of thing.

The selection is definitely limited, but if you are looking for an affordable wine delivery service so you can stay home during this pandemic The Wine Shop by Instacart could be a good option for you. The Wine Shop by Instacart is a wine delivery service that does not require a subscription which is absolutely a nice feature.

A Note To The Wine Shop If You Ever Read This:
One thing that was nice online was it gave descriptions of the wine and pairing ideas. The bottles do not contain the same info. A little leaflet in the box would have been a great addition for someone like me :)
